'MARIMEKKO' CLOTHING REFRESH

BACKGROUND
In my free time, I love to be creative and regularly make design briefs for myself to respond to. My most recent self made brief I completed was to design an eight piece collection for 'Marimekko'.

I first looked into what 'Marimekko's' audience was saying about their clothing to find what needed to be improved.

RESEARCH
I started my research by analysing 'Marimekko's' current clothing designs as well as their iconic prints.

I then began my research into the collection I want to create to address the audiences problems, where I created a word list, gathered primary and secondary images and objects and wrote a conclusions from research section.

IDEA GENERATION
Using my research, I began the idea generation phase, creating ideas around silhouettes fit for Summer and Spring, adapting 'Marimekko's' iconic patterns and responding to the audiences wants.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
I then moved onto concept development where I evolved each design by thinking more carefully about materials, colour, garment details, etc. I also took into consideration details I needed to draw to make my vision clearer.

After developing each concept, I conducted a SWOT analysis and wrote down feedback from 'Marimekko's' audience.

CONCEPT REFINEMENT
In the refinement phase, I drew the figures onto the page as I would in my final to ensure they fit and noted adjustments I still needed to make before drawing my final eight piece collection.
